Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Kids Against Hunger United and What We Do:

Q. Is the food free?

A. Our food is NOT free. We have to purchase all of the ingredients needed to pack our highly nutritious meals. Each of our KAH United meals is .30 per meal. An average packing event costs the organization $135 per person per 2-hour shift.

Q. How do I find services in addition to food assistance?

A. Call 2-1-1, a regional social services hotline, to find human and social service resources in your neighborhood. Dial 2-1-1 seven days a week from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm to be connected to a 2-1-1 SEPA Information and Referral Specialist. Calls are free and confidential. Interpreter services are available in over 140 languages.

Q. Any special dress code requests to volunteer?

A. All volunteers will be asked to have their hair covered. We provide hairnets however you are free to wear a baseball hat if you’d like. We also have KAH United hats for sale at our warehouse for $15 should you want to purchase one.

Q. Where can I drop off my food donation?

A. KAH United has several drop off sites throughout the Marple Newtown Area. You can always drop off at our warehouse at 1101 Sussex Blvd Suite 9 Broomall, Pa. we have a drop off bin right next to our loading dock with the yellow steps. We also have a drop off bin at Marple Presbyterian Church in Broomall and the Marple Ambulance in Broomall on Malin Road. All of our bins are checked daily and can accept all non perishable food items. We do ask that the food is not expired. If you have a larger donation, please contact our pantry team at foodpantry@kahunited.org to arrange a time for drop off.

Q. How do I host a food drive?

A. Food drives are a great way to get involved and help those struggling with food insecurity in and around Delaware County. Below are links from our Food Drive Toolkit for you to use in your own Food Drive.

Q. How is KAH United funded?

A. We gather support from a variety of funding channels, such as personal donations, corporate sponsorships, grants from foundations, and hosting special fundraising events.

Q. Is my donation to KAH United tax-deductible?

A. As a registered 501(c)3 organization established in 2015, all monetary donations to KAH United are fully tax-deductible. Our EIN is 47-4811014. View our IRS Letter of Determination here (link to w-9 and determination letter)
