Hunger Is a Global Problem. The Solution is Often Local.

A staggering 854 million people are estimated to be undernourished worldwide. In fact, every 6 seconds, a child dies of causes related to starvation and malnutrition. That means around 16,000 kids die every single day!

Think about that for a moment. Now think about your own child, or a neighbor’s child. If they were in danger of dying like one of these 16,000 children, wouldn’t you try to do something?

Of course you would. The challenge with hunger and starvation overseas is that it’s “out of sight, out of mind.” Except for occasional short segments on the news, these 16,000 children are dying and we’re not tuned into the scope of this problem.

Kids Against Hunger United works hard to combat hunger and food insecurity around the world and here in America too. The Kids Against Hunger Meals go a long way to feed families. One Ready to Eat KAH Meal can feed up to 6 people. We’ve sent boxes and boxes of these meals to Africa and Ukraine, as well as many other countries and continents.

Each single Meal pack costs approximately $1.80 for the ingredients (this price does not include shipping items to our warehouse). Relatively inexpensive. And through the generous volunteer work of those who help us pack these Meals at our Packing Events, we can create enough meals to make a small impact on global hunger.

Since Heather Griesser LaPierre started Kids Against Hunger United’s in 2015, the organization and its countless volunteers have packed over 11 million meals! At $1.80 a Meal packet, that’s approximately $3,300,000 in just ingredient costs! There are so many ancillary costs involved, such as warehouse space rent, trucks, insurance costs, etc., etc.

Kids Against Hunger United is diligent about being efficient and making sure all donated monies and food go a long way. They work with shipping companies who will ship the food for free and who have connections in different ports to make sure the food gets to the right people. The ongoing donations from donors and corporations are the lifeblood of their ability to fight hunger, and that’s why it’s essential for donors to help them continue their great work.

Kids Against Hunger United appreciates all the volunteers and donations made, either one time donations from individuals, monthly ongoing donations, and all the donations from various businesses and corporations through our Hunger Heroes program.
