Heather Griesser LaPierre

Executive Director/Founder

Quite simply, without Heather, there is no Kids Against Hunger United. She truly is the vision and the heartbeat behind this philanthropic entity. She has a boundless energy and tenacious drive to help Kids Against Hunger United reach more hungry people, impact more food insecure groups and help more neighbors put food on the table through the food pantry. Her focus, her determination and even a significant portion of her earnings from her day job as a successful local Realtor® keep Kids Against Hunger United successfully running.

She started Kids Against Hunger United out of the basement of her home. Food was delivered on pallets and she and Bernie unloaded the 50 pound bags. She grew the charity group into a larger warehouse, then a larger warehouse and now, with the help of many donations and countless volunteers, Kids Against Hunger United occupies its current 5,000 sq. ft. warehouse. In fact, Kids Against Hunger United (with the help of volunteers, donors and sponsors), has put together over 11,000,000 meals in 8 years.

What is Heather’s role in Kids Against Hunger United? Well, pretty much everything and anything that needs to get done. When the food deliveries got too big, they needed a large truck. When no one volunteered to drive the large Penske trucks, Heather did. Today, she is the vision and brains behind Kids Against Hunger, its biggest champion, most consistent donor, the most tireless volunteer and the heartbeat that keeps it running. Helping people is in her DNA. It’s her happy place.

Nicole M. Davis, PhD

Director of Food Pantry

Nicole plays an integral role at Kids Against Hunger United, specifically overseeing its Food Pantry. She organizes the Food Pantry activities in conjunction with her dedicated team of volunteers.

Those duties and responsibilities include gathering food through donations and drives, the most critical element of making the Food Pantry successful. “Without the food donations, the Pantry is severely limited in its ability to function and help our neighbors,” Nicole explains. She is also in charge of organizing events and volunteers to sort all donated food, shop for food for pantry families, and then distribute food to those families. A key responsibility for Nicole is to explore, devise and plan new initiatives to procure more food to feed more families in need.

What Nicole loves best about her role in the organization is the opportunity to work with likeminded volunteers to get food to those directly in need. “We can see firsthand the families and neighbors who benefit from our work,” explains Nicole. “Kids Against Hunger United has such a great and established volunteer base, and I relish the challenge of using my background and organizational skills to help grow and expand the Food Pantry.

Nicole’s “day job” is as a faculty member (Associate Clinical Professor) at Northeastern University. She is the Program Director of the Applied Behavior Analysis graduate programs. When she is not busy in her role at Northeastern University, she enjoys Yoga, is a fan of the Eagles and 76ers, and loves hanging out with friends and family. The also enjoys playing poker and hopes to include more travel into her leisure time. She is married and enjoys time with her cat, Knuckles.
