Helping Others Have Something to Be Thankful For

Perhaps the most poignant day of the year where hunger cuts deepest is on Thanksgiving. While the rest of the world is sitting down to extravagant meals with family and friends, our less fortunate neighbors feel their hunger even deeper on this day, and for some. their loneliness feels much worse.

One of KAH United’s most rewarding and satisfying hunger fighting events is volunteers coming together to create Thanksgiving meal boxes to distribute to these less fortunate folks. We first rally the community to donate items for these boxes. Then we bring in volunteers to help pack and help deliver these Thanksgiving meal boxes to those in need.

The smiles and camaraderie of these volunteers is palpable, and it is one of the more popular volunteer events KAH United runs. Our first year KAH United volunteers created and distributed approximately 40 boxes. At the most recent volunteer event, they packed and distributed approximately 278!
